Vale Owen Carlton 30th September 2025

I am very saddened to mark the passing of my friend Owen Carlton — a proud National Serviceman and founder of the Rats of Tobruk Project. Nephew of QX1733 Eric Carlton 2/15th Infantry Battalion.

 

Owen dedicated a significant portion of his life to preserving the memory of the Rats of Tobruk and with others, created a nominal roll of Rats of Tobruk, the compilation of over 20,000 names of Australians that served at Tobruk.

 

I will miss him and I will continue his work along with many others.Owen entrusted me with the management of his website and database several years ago and we have continued to refine the nominal roll of Rats of Tobruk.

 

I would like to pass on my deepest sympathies to Maurveen and his family and friends.
